A Winter Wonderland

Last Friday we got the best present a teacher could ever ask for. A whole bunch of glorious snow. It was actually more like 6-8 inches but it was the most snow this little island had seen in over 30 years! The fact is that even where there is just an inch or two of snow around here, things shut down for the day so with 6-8 inches, we were guaranteed our first snow day since living in Korea.
So what to do when you can’t drive anywhere and you really have no where that you would want to drive? Climb up the mountain behind your apartment and have a mini photo shoot. And can I just say that this was actually hubs idea, it’s funny the things he does that make me fall more in love with him.

Down our street. Thankfully the roads were semi cleared by the afternoon.
Ol’ Blue was out of commission that day.
Food delivery bike. I don’t think anyone was getting their fried chicken that day.
Up in the mountains across from our apartment.
We spent the rest of the day drinking hot cocoa and driving around the island taking pictures of the landscape.

These photos are so cute! Snow just makes everything nicer. I’m so glad you guys enjoyed the snow and how lucky are you to be there for the first snow fall in 30 years!

Drink up on that hot chocolate girl.

Thanks so much! We enjoyed it but now I wish it would melt and go away!

This might be a pretty ignorant statement but I had no idea it snowed in Korea! I have always pictured all of Korea as being one giant beach, everyone walking around barefoot in warm sand all year long!

It doesn’t much by where we live but up north they get quite a bit. It’s about the same latitude as Missouri. I wish it was beach weather all year round!

Oh my goodness, I can’t believe that! I grew up with tons of snow so I don’t enjoy it as much as I used to but now since we live in a place where it’s rare to see snow, it’s fun to go out and enjoy it.

  • http://www.blogger.com/profile/04585816729964741872 Jay

You got some great photos out of your snow day!

While we NEVER have snow days in Canada (meaning school NEVER closes) I do enjoy movies, hot chocolate and good books especially if fireside!

    • http://www.blogger.com/profile/03340277403271465452 lost in travels

Thanks! It’s such a bummer living in a cold climate and never getting work or school canceled because of snow. I grew up in Michigan where it NEVER happened. Then when I moved to Oklahoma school was canceled. I ran to the window expected a bunch of snow and you could still see all of the grass…just not the same!

Mmm, this sounds good. Any idea how many calories in this recipe? I’m going to try it tonight! By the way, I found your site through ‘Keeping It Simple.’

    • http://www.blogger.com/profile/03340277403271465452 lost in travels

From what I put into Calorieking.com it came out to be about 60 calories plus the calories added by the milk. Still so much better than the mixes which can be up to 150 calories without the milk! Hope you enjoy it!

Oh man! That’s a long time! But I’ll admit before moving and living in Chicago we never got them either unfortunately. Lots of snow but no closings.
